Region of Aachen well placed

The Aachen region, with its regional orientation and its organised structure is sponsored by several EU-, state- and federal funds and well prepared to drive regional development forward.

In line with the North Rhine-Westphalian clusters, the region has excellent possibilities for improved prospects in medical fields due to its excellent technological and innovation potential. In order to co-ordinate and promote all projects of regional importance in Aachen (especially the projects co-funded by Ziel2 EFRE resources) the department for regional and cluster development at AGIT mbH offers consultancy and support for project ideas.

The co-operation and coordination that was established within the regions in the past few years has proven to be successful as can be seen by the regions performance since the beginning of the funding period:

• The Aachen region ranks first among NWR-regions in winning projects with 86 winning projects since the beginning of 2010
• Projects won by the end of 2008 alone expect at least 50 millions euro from the EFRE-programme in the next few years.
