The Healthcare Campus North Rhine-Westphalia

As a centre of medical and scientific expertise, the Health Campus aims to promote North Rhine Westphalia on an international scale as an important location for healthcare industry and research activities. In the future, the Healthcare Campus constitutes a unique concentration of medical knowledge and competence in NRW and assumes responsibility when it comes to restoring, maintaining or promoting people’s health in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The Healthcare Campus NRW, a unique project in Germany, will be situated near the University of Bochum. Its task is to concentrate existing and yet to be founded institutions of health management in a centre, to integrate them in a network and to support their development. This is why Germany’s first state technical university for healthcare professions (the Hochschule für Gesundheit), the State Institute for Health and Work (LIGA.NRW) and the healthcare cluster management will be established there. The Healthcare Campus North Rhine-Westphalia is based on the philosophy of the “National Institutes of Health” in the USA.
